Update: Week 8
Hello and welcome to my eighth blog post for my ongoing project, Sanguine Dream!
This update will finish up the first part of Rubim's story with two extra scenes about Rubim, leaving it on a cliffhanger while I work on the second bad end, and organise a bunch of extra art assets.
The final step in the loss scene with Rubim after he learns magic has also been included, and will result in a new bad end which is currently inaccessible.
Because this bad end isn't part of the main story (the first was designed mostly to introduce the concept, so Phim isn't pushed around too much in it since it's mandatory) the scenes for this bad end will be especially degrading, and will be released properly when I've written up more scenes for it, and establish a condition to escape.
For alikhan, the condition to escape was to defeat each character and then defeat a boss, but for this one, I might make it be based on certain choices that can be made in the scene.
I'm currently unsure if I will continue the story in another zone, or if I will include a new set of characters in the second zone who have their own stories fleshed out, and maybe unlock the next "arc" of the castle stories as we progress.
The artwork for Rubim's portrait has been completed and added into the game, created once again by the amazing Tasma, I look forward to working with him in the future to create even more quality art.
While this may not be worked on within the next update, I'm looking for artists to work on encounter assets, rather than reusing the portrait pictures, and I'm also going to look at simplifying the UI and buckling down on a few key design decisions for it moving forward.
Notably, whether it would be a good idea to have multiple enemies in a fight, or if it would be better to simply have one on one fights, with groups of enemies being classified as a single unit.
