Update: Week 9

Hello and welcome to my ninth blog post for my ongoing project, Sanguine Dream!

Due to the nature of the next update's content, I'm unable to release a new version of the game, because it requires content to be completed that can't be finished within a week, however I'm happy to share the progress made so far.

Work has continued for the Maid bad ending, the goal being to create 10 large scenes, a couple of escape related scenes, and then an objective that must be achieved in the bad ending, whether that be completing all the battle encounters, or choosing the correct choice until you reach a condition which will allow you to break free.

So far, a number of scenes have been done, but there isn't a condition to escape just yet, and so rather than trapping players in a soft lock by releasing the content early, I'm having to hold it back for now until it's complete.

I've also been taking a look at the way encounters are playing, and I think I've been able to lock down on some design decisions that were previously up in the air.

The game will have multiple party members in the future, and changes to the UI  for encounter have been made to reflect this.

There will only be a single enemy at a time, and groups of enemies will be bundled together, artwork will reflect this in the future.

I will also be looking at the actual stats of each of the enemies, because so far they are mostly set up as a test to see it can work, and not as a way to balance the gameplay.
So far, the gameplay will probably be too easy, and so in the future I will look at making the content more challenging and providing options for the player to progress if they become stuck.

The artist that I normally commission for projects is on a break, so there isn't any available sketches to share this time either, I apologise for the lack of tangible content to provide this week, but rest assured, I will work hard to create something you will all enjoy <3

I'm always looking for feedback on my project, so do not hesitate to comment, I read every message that's sent to me!

Because of the tight deadlines there may be certain bugs or mistakes, I will be routinely checking in so feel free to message me here, on twitter (or X as it's called now) using @Phim_Somnium, or you can contact me in my discord server. discord.gg/YdFGj4uRt4

Thanks, as always, for checking out my game, I hope I can make it into something you will enjoy! <3
